SHAKE IT UP was conceived to improve the comfort and amenity of an existing dwelling which was largely uninsulated, lacking in storage, with living spaces disconnected from the garden, and a dark central kitchen lacking functionality and (dis)functioning as a central thoroughfare.

As the project’s name suggests, we took the existing house and proceeded to shake it up! We rationalised the plan, creating clear circulation, separate living & bedroom zones, adding storage, and connection with the lovely garden. All within the existing building footprint.

The house is now fully insulated and new high-performance windows were installed in existing openings. The existing roof-mounted solar panels provide energy to run the now all-electric home.

The result is a family home that is liveable, light-filled, and has a strong connection with the gorgeous garden outside.
